Define Jersey Knit Fabric

Fusing/interlining for Jersey Knit Fabric

Must be suitable for the material/ product/ treatment and wash for jersey wool knit fabric. Must not discolour the product Must be properly fused, have smooth appearance, be without wrinkles/ bubbles, also afterwash or dry clean.Must pass shrinkage test before cutting. Must pass bond strength test before and after wash. Must have no visible glue on right side of the material, neither before or after wash aaa h




Fabric/panel


• Must be suitable for the product/ intended use/ treatment and wash
• Must follow order specification with respect to weight/ width/ construction/ fibre composition/

Lining

• Must use a suitable quality for the material/ product/ treatment and wash
• Must have correct size and shape when wearing/ using
• Must have matching colour, if no other instruction has been given
• Must have correct width on seam allowance based on material /product, to avoid seam slippage
• Must be properly attached
• Must have over lock when the lining is not fully attached or secured with e.g. binding
• Must be attached with a tape in the armhole and allow enough space to move

Padding/ Filling

• Must be suitable and durable for intended use/ product/ treatment and wash
• Must be clean and free from smell
• Must be resistant to yellowing and must not discolour the product
• Must follow instruction given for quality/ weight/ composition/ blend/ colour/ treatment and hand feel
• Must have correct thickness/ width/ density and resilience/ bounce back (elasticity)when needed be filled in chambers/ pockets/ tunnels
• Must have the weight of filling/ padding adjusted to the size and actual part of the product
• Must be evenly distributed in the product and/ or in the pockets/ channels
• Must be properly attached (padding)
• Must use correct coating or nonwoven/ woven layer when needed, to prevent filling/ padding from being exposed on the inner/outer side of the product
• Must have suitable size and shape when wearing/ using the product

 

Thread

• Must be suitable for the material/ product/ lining and accessories
• Must be ok after treatments and wash
• Must when matching to fabric, never be in lighter shade, if no other instruction has been given
• Must have breaking strength and elasticity adjusted to material and stitching type
• Must use a quality suitable for the type of stitching used
• Must be shrink resistant/ colour fast and have suitable thickness

 

Linking, on knit

• Must stretch all ribs after linking, to make sure all loops are secured
• Must stretch the seams, to make sure the thread/ yarn have the same elasticity as the knitted panel/ product
• Must make sure the linking loops at all ends are secured and covered on the inside

Chain stitch and hand stitch, on knit

• Must stretch the seams, to make sure that the thread/ yarn have the same elasticity as theproduct/ knitted panels
• Must make sure that seam ends are secured and covered on the inside

Rib

• Must be suitable for the material/ product/ treatment
• Must be correct in design/ quality/ length/ width and elasticity
• Must have good tension/elasticity to fit the quality of the product
• Must have good recovery
• Must be relaxed at least 24 hours prior to productionmust withstand product’s wash and wear

Smock

• Must be suitable and durable for intended use/ product/ treatment and wash
• Must be correct in design and quality, including quality on elastics
• Must stretchable to fabrics full width and have good recovery
• Must be stitched with the correct number of needles, according to instructions
• Must have elastic threads secured at the seams
• Must not leave needle holes in the material
• Must have no broken/ uneven stitches or loose part of elastics, neither on front or backside
• Must be even and clean on front and back side
• Must have soft hand feel on the inside of the product

Touch and close fasteners (Velcro)

• Must be suitable for the material/ product/ treatment
• Must be in correct size/ quality, according to instructions
• Must have no sharp edges
• Must be correctly positioned and completely overlapping withstand products wear and wash

Pocket

• Must have correct size/ grading and placement, according to order instructions
• Must have suitable reinforcement, especially important for heavy treated/ washed products
• Must have secure stitches/ bar tacks at openings
• Must have pocket lining suitable for the material/ product
• Must have correct seam allowance and be covered with over-lock/ French seam or binding on the pocket bag
• Must be symmetrically placed, if no other instruction has been given
• Must have pocket bags attached in such way that it is given enough space to move when needed, using e.g. tape/ stitch
• Must secure stitch aimed for delivery purpose, must be loose and easy to remove on product

Pressing

• Must always use vacuum table when ironing
• Must never leave iron marks
• Must iron/ press according to the material/ style

Packing

• Must not fold/ pack product until completely dry
• Must not fold/ pack product until completely free from e.g. loose threads, soil/ dirt, dust
• Must always look that the general impression of the product is fine before packaging

Conclusion
