Safe Chemical Handling Procedure
To ensure the proper storage and safe chemical handling procedure during the unloading and use. Applies to the Chemicals ETP Plant in Auto Textiles Ltd. Store Officer, Storekeeper and Helper. The store helper under the supervision of Store Officer shall stuck all chemicals & Dyes upon receiving in Dyes & Chemicals store. Evaluation of chemical is mandatory for the factories.
Safe Chemical Handling Procedure
- Storage the safe chemical handling procedure and policy
- During stuck chemicals & Dyes maintain First in First Out for controlling the intensity of Chemicals & Dyes.
- The User of Chemicals & Dyes shall place requisition to store. The store helper weights the Dyes & Chemicals. That time they are alert about safe chemical handling procedure.
- If any Chemicals & Dyes spillage in the chemical store. If it is possible to collect then it is collected by Waste chemical Jeer and drain in Effluent treatment plant. For removing of chemical action in those place wash by water and Detergent and drain all water in the Effluent Treatment plant.
- Some chemicals is more hazardous so time of cleaning this kind of chemical & Dyes use Hand gloves, Gum boot, Musk, Goggles etc. To refresh smile of chemicals & Dyes Washing the Chemical & Dyes room as possible.
Chemical Handling by User
- Supervisor and following Supervisor and Helper are instructed to the safe chemical handling procedure and guideline mentioned below in order to ensure personnel safety.
- Supervisor and Helper are Smoking is strictly prohibited in the factory premises.
- Follow the safe chemical handling procedure instructions and guideline while operating the machines
- Chemical store staff must always wear plastic eye glass, hand gloves and mask when preparing strong acids like sulphuric acid, hydrochloric, acetic, and other hazardous chemicals which is detrimental to health.
- Mouth and nose must be covered also when preparing dyes and other powdered chemicals to avoid inhaling these substances
- Wash with plenty of water when skin contact with dyes and chemicals and if severe go to the doctor immediately
- All chemicals and dyes container must be covered and tightly closed with proper labeling
- Keep the working area, machine, and equipment always clean. Put everything in its designated place.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited in the factory premises

Uses Dyestuffs and Chemicals in the Dyeing Department :
- Handling of Dyes and Chemicals: The Operators and Helper will collect the Dyes and Chemicals from the Store and they dose the machine. They use hand gloves, masks, Gum-boot and Goggles while they handling Dyes and Chemicals.
- Draining of Dyes & Chemicals from Dyeing M/C to ETP plant: After processing Dyeing M/C drains the water with Dyes and Chemicals and this wastewater goes to the ETP plant through drain line.
- Wastewater mixed with softener goes to the ETP plant through the drain line from the softener preparation section.
- Wastewater mixed with dyestuff goes to the ETP plant through drain line from the dyestuff mixing section.
- If dyes and chemicals spillage on the floor, it should be washed out with detergent and this wastewater also goes to the ETP plant through drain line.
- Safety: Some dyes and chemicals are hazardous and corrosive. These are Acetic Acid, Hydrous, Hydrogen per oxide, Caustic soda, Soda Ash etc. So while handling this Chemicals, every Operator and Helper must use the Masks, Hand gloves, Gum boot and Goggles.
Conclusion
When the chemical & Dyes will be finished then the containers will be immediately transferred to the waste Godown and every week waste disposal will be sent to the suppliers. We should maintain safe chemical handling procedure and management.About Author:
