What is PPE
The equipments which are used for safety of employee.Kind of Equipments:
Hand gloves, Eye goggles, Musk, Earplug, Gumboot.
Why we used PPE: We used varieties kind of chemicals in a textile factory and there most of chemicals very harmful for us. Some of chemicals access in our body with breathing and some of chemicals very harmful for our skin. If we are using hazardous chemicals like as Acetic Acid (CH3COOH), Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2), Caustic (NaOH), Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4), Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) etc, without PPE then its very harmful for our health. We protect us by wear only PPE.
Define Personnel Protective Equipment Policy
Needle Guard: Needle injury may held with sewing machine (Single & Double) during working time if m/c got Needle guard missing. But If Needle Guard kept fitted with m/c will not take place any needle injury.
Eye Guard: Over lock, button hole, button stitch, Bartac m/c needle may occur injury through eye by breaking needle. If Eye guard fitted with m/c protect the eye any injury.
Rubber Mat: Sewing m/c paddle mat kept fitted with paddle so that not take place any electric sock.
Metal Gloves: Cutter man always use the metal gloves that not happen any finger injury.
Goggles: Washing m/c operator, electrician, Bartac m/c, and Snap Button m/c operator will exercise goggle that not happen any eye harm.
Hand gloves: Spot cleaning operator cleaning spot by using hand gloves that skin not get any harm.
Mask: In sewing over lock m/c & cutting section always dust is coming out to floor. Dust is going inside the nose & affecting the workers .Dirt air also is flowing to chemical section & affecting. So all should use mask for the particular areas always that dirt atmosphere do not harm any body during working hour.
Ear plug: Boiler operator, Grind m/c operator, Generator operator always use the ear plug otherwise he may become dump due to noisy sound.
PPE POLICY Department Wise
Cutting Section: Should wear stainless metal hand gloves which using by cloth cutter machine operator. Other wise may be injured and operator must inform his supervisor to issue new when damaged.Sewing Section: Mechanic shall ensure at every morning before start the production by all the machine guard. At any guard missing operator must inform to mechanic to re-issue. It is strictly instructed without safety guard will not operate the machine and its may injured.
Finishing Section: Sucker machines produce sound which may cause pollution. Without ear plugs employees/workers working near the above mentioned machines are likely to suffer from the following health problems: a) Loss of Hearing b) Headache c) Sleeplessness d) Anxiety e) Giddiness.
Circular Knitting, Boiler, Generator& Sucker M/c: These machines produce sound which may cause pollution. Without ear plugs employees/workers working near the above mentioned machines are likely to suffer from the following health problems: a) Loss of Hearing b) Headache c) Sleeplessness d) Anxiety e) Giddiness. All of the circular knitting employees must wear mask which may produce health problem. Flying dust very harm-full for health. So it is instructed to all relevant workers must wear mask.
Dyeing Section: All the chemical using employees/workers must wear gum-boot, hand gloves, eye glass & apron. Without PPE equipments may health hazards. So it is strictly instructed that relevant employees use above equipments. If any damaged above items, operator must inform his supervisor to new issue.
Some Non Compliance PPE
- Some loses electric wears are found in the false siling . No rubber mat found in front of electric panel board . Fire equipments are not sufficient ( beater , gas mask , bucket ). They do not have any IPS FOR Emergency situation control.
- Most of the personnel files (missing signature, picture and permanent appointment letter) and salary sheet is not complete. Age verification certificate is not verified by the medical officer .
- Three fire extinguishers and 2 First Aid box are blocked by working table
- Storage system (Issue and receiving ) is not maintained proper way. Broken Needle register is not maintained proper way
- Factory does not maintain worker’s training record. (First aid , fire and awareness training)
- Most of the workers do not use ID and personal protective equipment .
- Chemical containers are not labeled properly. Some MSDS are missing on chemical container.
- Looses electric wears are found in washing inspection room.
- Fire equipments are not sufficient ( beater , gas mask , bucket ).
- Machine checklist is not maintained properly . Some machine was checked on dated 18/10/2007. They do not have any updated checking list.
- No rubber mat found in front of electric panel board.
- No Danger sign in electric panel board.
- Worker’s facility is not sufficient ( toilet accessories , Dining , drinking water etc)
- Most of the Workers do not use PPE.
- They do not have any training record. ( First aid , fire and awareness training)
- They do not have any IPS FOR Emergency situation control.
- The chemical handling (Issue and receiving )and storage system is not properly.
Corrective Action / Comment
- Already have taken the necessary action for loses electric wears. Rubber mat already provided. Factory will install fire equipments immediately .IPS system under process.
- Factory should take necessary action .
- Factory should maintain storage system properly
- Training schedule under Process .
- All the employees should be provided with appropriate equipments and should be trained and encouraged by the concerned people.
- Factory should provide the MSDS and labeled properly .
- Factory should take the necessary action .
- Factory should take the necessary action for installing immediately
- Factory should maintain machine checklist properly.
- Factory should provide rubber mat in front of electric panel for safety
- Factory should take the necessary action .
- Factory should provided all toilet accessories for worker’s health and safety.
- All the employees should be provided with appropriate equipments and should be trained and encouraged by the concerned people.
- Factory should install IPS for emergency situation
- Factory should maintain issue and receiving system properly. What is PPE
