The Communication Relationship Among The Leaders

Communication Relationship Among The Leaders

It was a wonderful experience for me to attend the first session of LCML. It appeared to be more than my expectations. I have learned a great deal of materials in Rahman Sir’s first class. His frank speeches/ approaches made me more interested about the course. First of all he conveyed the Code of Conduct of the class and course guideline after a very short introduction. For me the most important segment of the class was Mr. Mashiur Alam’s Inspiring speech. The Speech was about 15 minutes and he delivered the most inspiring words at the last minute of his speech and that was, “Turn around to someone near you, someone you do not recognize, say hello, smile, make friends. It could be a life transforming experience for both of you”. The moral of the speech was “we should play the role of Catalyst in someone’s life”. At one stage Noman sir described the definition of Leader and stated the quote of Robert Greenleaf, “Good leaders must first become good servants”. He also added that we must be good servant not slave to become good leader, all leaders were good servant and our aim is to be great servant. Really it is very true that if I serve my people or fellows and earn their faith and trust only then I can be a good leader.

The Communication Relationship Among The Leaders

Next discussion was about communication. As per the session I came to know that Communication is to share ideas, views, emotions etc. Whole day everything we do is communication and communication is our human need. As per 100 years of research: Communication skill is the most important skill required for Managers/ Leaders. On the other hand miscommunication may happen and it is very natural because miscommunication is nothing but perception of meaning and meaning is not fixed, meaning is dynamic or meaning can be multiple.

There are four basic communication skills:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking
Listening: Hearing and Listening is not same. Hearing is physical act and listening is psychological act. I have seen that Noman sir is very fond of using two sentences: 1. That’s it 2. As simple as that. So at the end of the session I believed that it was very simple but very interesting and important, that’s it.

From my perception the most interesting lesson of second session was politics. Noman sir provided some example to show the importance of politics. Basically politics means doing the work or handle any situation in a diplomatic manner. He also added that we must confess that politics exists everywhere and I think it is the universal truth. Then he presented a video clip on Mr. Sundar Pichai (CEO, Google). From the video we came to know a lot about Mr. Pichai. The most important information of the video was the secret behind his success is – Politics. Mr. Pichai handled everything in a diplomatic way and thus reached on top.

The second important topic was Winners vs. Losers. Majority is losers and winners are minority. Winners always were and will be in the minority group. Average success people are not winners. To become the winner one must ensure successive success. To become a successful person we have to develop our relationship skill with multi people of the organization and must consider ourselves as a sales person.

As it is a Managerial Communication course, there was a lot of discussion regarding communication in the 2nd session. There are three basic Goals of all business and professional communications:

  • To Inform (Routine Job)
  • To persuade
  • To craft & sustain relationship
  • Communication is an ultimate necessity. Every time we used to communicate and it is a valuable opportunity to strengthen the existing relationship. We communicate because:
  • Communication is the only way to evaluate others
  • Communication is the fundamental of build a relationship, sustain the relationship and stronger the relationship
We want something which exists within the receiver/audience.

At the end I like to address to another important topic that Noman Sir discussed in the class that is: as an employee “Fulfill the job description is a non-termination criteria and to get promotion we must do extraordinary result.
