The Children’s Place Initiatives

  • Issuance of appointment letter along with break up of wages and entitled benefits and the written handbook on workers right.All trading partners must acknowledge in writing that their factory buildings are secure in terms of the facility itself and the individuals who have access to the factory and cargo storage area.
  • All factories, freight forwarders, cargo carriers, and consolidators must institute a security awareness program for all personnel to heighten personnel security consciousness.
  • All of our agents and quality assurance inspectors have been made aware of the need to assist in creating a secure cargo protection system. All pertinent agreements and contracts will be amended to contain a clause specifying it is their responsibility to verify cargo security and provide for a penalty provision in the event of non-compliance.
  • During in-line and post-production quality verifications, inspectors must physically examine the security of the facilities and report their findings.
 
The Children’s Place Compliance Procedure

  • Conducting interview, efficiency test. Then Interview rating and candidate selection.In instances where our inspectors determine that adequate security measures are not present to ensure the integrity of our merchandise, they will immediately bring this matter to the attention of the factory and management.
  • We will immediately contact the factory and work with them to correct the problem. Failure of the factory to take remedial steps will result in the termination of all business activities with that factory.
  • Our inspectors will include security in its initial evaluation of all vendors, as well as in subsequent factory visits.
  • Again age verification with company doctor. There are individual Doctor & Nurse for age verification for Male & Female workers.Each factory and sub-contractor must certify, in writing, that:Briefing about workers package entitlement and benefits.   • The Children’s Place will require all vendors to provide a production schedule which identifies, by name, address and production steps, any and all subcontractors that will be used to manufacture the merchandise. Before a vendor is permitted to change the country of origin or delivery schedule of an order, a detailed explanation must be provided to and approved by The Children’s Place.the finished merchandise was stored in a secure area to prevent tampering;
  • before the cartons were sealed, piece and weight verification were performed;
  • All room/floor of the factory building of Fashions Ltd. is provided with two stairs for use in case of fire so positioned that each person will have a reasonably free and unobstructed passage from his work place to an exit. seals were placed on all containers;
  • The Children’s Place will require its suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractors to complete and include with all original documents submitted for every shipment the Shipment Certification of Compliance. seal control records are maintained;
  • The Children’s Place will require its agents and other inspectors to complete the Certification of the Manufacturing Facility2 for every purchase order. all inland carriers are required to acknowledge, in writing, the quantity of cartons, by marks and mber, picked up from the vendor;
  • the consolidator and international carrier are required to acknowledge to the inland carrier that they each received the cartons received by the inland carrier from the vendor in sealed condition;
  • any variances in the number of cartons delivered are immediately reported to The Children’s Place and the shipment shall be detained until the variance is resolved;
  • any evidence of tampering must be immediately reported to the buyer and the shipment shall not proceed until the matter is resolved; and
  • all cargo security records are to be maintained for a period of one year and produced upon request. The foregoing certifications shall be required documents for payment.
  • In those instances where consolidators are employed, the consolidator is required to certify in writing that its facility has sufficient security compliance procedure to insure the integrity of the cargo which is in its possession.
  • All vendors are required to provide a production schedule which identifies, by name, address and production steps, any and all sub-contractors that will be used to manufacture the merchandise.
  • Before a vendor is permitted to change the country of origin or delivery schedule of an order, a detailed explanation must be provided to and approved by The Children’s Place. All discussions regarding these changes shall be recorded and dated in the Purchase Order file.
  • All The Children’s Place associates involved in international sourcing will be made aware of the need to ensure that our cargo remains secure and that they share this responsibility with all our trading partners.
  • All our trading partners shall use the attached Cargo Security Compliance Guidelines1 to ensure the creation of a secure cargo protection system.
  • In order to verify compliance with the above initiatives, The Children’s Place reserves the right to conduct random and unannounced physical inspections of all production facilities.

Consequences of compliance procedure

If our inspectors determine that a supplier, manufacturer, subcontractor does not have adequate security measures to ensure the integrity of our merchandise, the following consequences will occur:
  • There is Fire Alarm System in all floors and it is easily visible & accessible throughout the factory.
  • Advertising for the vacant position on notice board and collected applications.The Children’s Place will immediately contact the factory and work with them to remedy the problem.
  • If the factory fails to take remedial steps, the order will be immediately and irrevocably canceled. All other outstanding orders will also be cancelled. The vendor, supplier, manufacturer, subcontractor, or agent will bear any and all costs that are incurred by The Children’s Place due to cancellation, including but not limited to, damages sustained as a result of The Children’s Place’s liability to its customers, lost profits and resulting fines and penalties. 
  • All emergency exits are illuminated exit signs, which must be supported by IPS and must be unobstructed at all times.
  • Short-listing of the candidates based on education, qualification and experience and age certificate.The Children’s Placecompliance procedure  considers these security issues to be serious matters. We request the owner, president, managing director or chairperson of the business corporation or board to certify that this policy has been read, understood and agreed to as set forth below.
  • All ways or aisles leading to emergency exits are marked with yellow/red lines and direction to the nearly exits.

Acknowledgement and certification

Our management uses the following procedure at the time of selection and placement of new worker: I am the owner, president, managing director, or chairperson of the business corporation or board of the undersigned entity. I certify that this letter has been read, understood and agreed to by my Company. The Company will take all necessary action to implement the security initiatives set forth in this letter, and all present and future transactions will be conducted in a manner consistent with this policy. The Company will also allow you the right to receive online inspection reports, factory profiles or any other information you require to ensure our compliance with the guidelines set forth in this letter for compliance procedure. Workers are trained with the posted Evacuation Plan and detailed Fire Safety Plan. They are also trained in following and using the fire extinguishers & other equipments and rule through to the periodic repeated fire drill.
