Operations:

  • Assigning Card Number, Application number and file number to new cardholders.
  • Data Capturing:
  • Card Division Application Capturing

  • Payment receive capturing
  • Miscellaneous data capturing related to Card
  • Customer service to Cardholders.
  • End of day processing (EDP), report printing and reviewing the report regarding the entire activity of the day.
  • Card Embossing, Card mailer preparing and handing over card to marketing for delivery.
  • Continuous monitoring of card transactions (Log file) and daily reporting to Management.
  • Negative file maintenance for lost card, limit exceeding and controlling transactions violating foreign exchange rules. Issuing letters to Cardholders informing various exceptions in their card accounts.
  • Continuous monitoring whether the data communications link is up or not, if the link is down then communicating the respective authority.
  • System administration, updating software as per vendors instructions, troubleshooting, communicating Software vendors and Master Card regional and head office for all sorts of system problems and development.
  • Uploading and downloading clearing file from MasterCard/ Visa mainframe everyday through MasterCard File Express/ Visa Online.
  • Card number generation, Range blocking and various security control measures of MasterCard/ Visa to combat fraud attempts.
  • Attending call referral (when acquirer call us to verify Referred transaction or acquirer is suspicious about the transaction)
  • Monthly statement, Auto Payment vouchers Auto Debit vouchers, printing and dispatching to Cardholders and branches.
  • Retrieval, Chargeback, Fulfillment, Arbitration. (When the issuer asks for Transaction Information Document from acquirer called Retrieval, Denying the transaction is called Chargeback, Compiling the request of Issuer is called Fulfillment).
  • Monitoring Fraud transaction and reporting to MasterCard/ Visa through SAFE, (System to Avoid Fraud Effectively/ Visa’s Fraud Reporting System).
  • Reporting the overall activity i.e. business volume, recovery, loss etc through Q.M.R (Quarterly Member Reporting) to MasterCard and Visa.
  • Capturing sales Slip and submitting the acquiring file to MasterCard/ Visa for settlement.
  • Collection and distribution of Sales Slip from merchants
  • Receiving Sales Slip and checking the authenticity of Transaction.
  • Authorization, Initiation and attending Call referral.
  • Merchant application and maintenance capturing.
  • MATCH (Member Alert to Control High Risk Merchants) report file generating and submitting to Card Division  to check whether the merchant has been terminated by any Acquiring bank.
  • Implementing New Products/Projects, Developing existing product and technology drive.

Duties and responsibility of Roster duty officer

  • Monitoring connectivity to MasterCard/ Visa
  • Monitoring each and every transactions and investigating suspicious or high velocity transactions
  • Fraud control
  • Limit control
  • Ensuring better customer service by monitoring transaction
  • Foreign exchange violation control
  • Preparing CS log file
  • Authorizing and attending call referral.
  • In addition to above jobs the roster duty officers may be required to perform other jobs related to operations in case of emergency requirement. Nevertheless, the roster duty officers must ensure the following jobs under any circumstances.

Controlling International Card transactions and reporting to Bangladesh Bank:

  • Informing various branches and other Bank’s where our International Cardholder maintains foreign currency accounts. Viz. FC, RFCD about their international card usage.
  • Preparing a summery for total International Card transactions branch and bank wise for submitting to Bangladesh Bank.
  • Reporting to Bangladesh Bank regarding “Statement of issuance of Credit Card” favoring exporting house against Retention Quota account (FC Account) in the format of Bangladesh 
  • Calling Travel Quota Cardholder to endorse card transaction in their passports. Reporting to the respective branch i.e. where the cardholder maintains account or from where the payment is made.
  • Monitoring International Card payments against RFCD accounts.

Duties and Responsibilities of Card’s Accounts Department:

  • Preparing vouchers for Card transaction and trial balance.
  • Settlement of local cards Transaction with other banks.
  • Reconciliation with ID and CAD.
  • Payment collection form branches, receiving cheque and sending for clearing, responding ETCA and IBCA.
  • MIS preparation and submitting to management.
  • Quarterly Member Report (QMR) submitting to MasterCard/ Visa
  • Merchant Payment processing.
  • Communicating branches to settle various problems in making payment of Card bill.


Marketing:

  • Contacting and persuasion of the exporting Garments and other exporting industries of the country, different prospective customers of other Banks, Social Elite’s and good borrowers of NCC Bank Ltd. and various service holders for the issuance of our Visa and MasterCard.
  • Receipt of card application from various places.
  • Delivery of Card Division and ensure timely and secure receipt of cards by the cardholders.
  • Receiving acknowledgement slips of card and arrange to activate the cards.
  • Issuance of various important letters:
  • Issuing Advice letters to Travel Quote cardholders about foreign currency rules and regulation.
  • Confirmation of lien
  • Prepare various types of Office Notes.
  • Limit enhancement letter
  • Decline letters
  • Performing vault custodians job for embossed cards and maintenance of card issue register.
  • Corresponding our Branches and follow-up of target.
  • Procurement and compilation of branch statements/reports and periodical monitoring of performance.
  • Filing and custodians various document of cardholders.
  • Maintenance of Card stock and Card issue registers.
  • Cardholder queries & response

Credit & Recovery:

  • Verifying various documents and information of Credit Card Application.
  • Proposal preparation, analysis, limit fixation and submitting to management for approval.
  • Issuance of various types of reminder letters among the delinquent customers and confirm them about their payment and also inform them of their last date of payment.
  • Follow-up and reminding the defaulters over phone.
  • Visiting defaulters’ office or residence for recovery.
  • Contact branches for follow-up recovery of payment (Branch recommended card).
  • Supporting Head of cards in submitting credit related MIS to Management.
  • Controlling defaulter transaction in conjunction with Operation Department.
  • Regularization of card account after recovery.
  • Checking the defaulters whether they are delinquent or not. If the payment is not received for any other reasons then try to settle the issue in an amicable and legitimate way.
  • Any other miscellaneous jobs related to Recovery.
  • Merchant Marketing Department:
  • Exploring merchants and sign-up up agreement with them.
  • Ensuring the supply of stationeries to perform card transactions
  • Collecting Sales Slips (Selective merchants)
  • Delivering Payment.
  • Educating merchant regarding transaction processing and fraud control.
  • Prepare report at the end of the month and submit to the Managing Director.
  • Card is a technology driven, dynamic and expertise oriented product. As long as we are dealing with international brand i.e. MasterCard/ Visa we must maintain international standard other wise it will be difficult to survive in the industry. (Where our competitors are always maintaining international standard). MasterCard/Visa always change their system for smooth card transactions, implementing new dimension of card transactions and to fortify Principal Membership operations against activities of fraud syndicates. Card operations and security personnel needed to be updated by reading manuals, bulletins, brochures and attend training in addition to their daily routine jobs.
  • One or two personnel should constantly be engaged in updating card system and manpower to cope with the global changes.
  • In view of above Card Division needs a qualified and dedicated team for successful launching and smooth operation of MasterCard and Visa Card.
