The main responsibility of a line manager is to ensure that the work process moves smoothly as per the plan provided by the Production Manager- Analyzing the operator’s skill.
- Keeping track of the production targets and allocation of machinery
- Monitoring of hourly production.
- To analyze each order individually with other department for ensuing the new materials organized on time for production activity.
- To monitor whether these activities are done on regular basis so that the flow of work for any particular order run smoothly.
- To follow up with marketing department to get the work order package and forwarding the same to start the production process.
- To screen the document before sending it to the factory for clarity of information.
- To run through the daily status reports and updating the management about the production progress on day-to-day basis by following up with the factories.
- To control over the factories in ensuring that production process is going as per the target plan.
- To reset the plan in case of any deviations in the actual production instead the said targets taking in to account the timely delivery.

- To attend the factory day-top-day issue (eg: arranging raw material which is short delivered or wrongly delivered) in coordination with the factory PMs and other concerned persons.
- To arrange the machinery spares as per the requirement on time in coordination with IE dept.
- To update the status on production activity of the entire factory by convening internal meetings, then reporting to the director on it.
- To give order status report and also future production plan to other departments so as to plan their related activities according.
- To monitor the subordinates under our department ensuring proper flow of work and able to give the information on the status of production activities of all our units by proper follow-ups as and when required.
- To report factory on scheduled time and report to his/her supervisor.
- To follow the technical specifications, instructions from his/her supervisor.
- To report to his/her supervisor if machine is causing any quality defect or under break down condition.
- Operator must ensure that machine and working area is neat and clean and full compliance is maintained.

Technical
meeting: Technical GM sends mail to respective concerned people about the
arrangement of technical meeting prior to production.All the concerned people
should be present in the meeting , regardless of whatever work they have , to
discuss about the critical issues concerned with the particular style. The
meeting is done with I.E, PM, Technical manager, General Managers, Quality
assurance managers, Line Supervisors, Line Managers, washing manager and
maintenance manager.
Sewing line
setting: First thing is that, the line managers should be very clear with
the buyer approved tech pack and also with the technical details given by the
technical GM.
They also have
to ensure that the buyer approved sample matches with buyer approved tech pack
and also with the technical details given by Technical GM in concern with
measurements, construction, folder attachments, any special artwork etc.Then
they also have to check all the machines are set and operations are carried as
per tech pack. Line managers should ensure that all notches, fusing and panel
have correct placements.
Trail run: As
a process of trail run, 50 pieces are manufactured initially with all the
specifications as per the approved sample.Technical manager should ensure that
printing and also the embroidery part have to be included in the garment as per
the approved sample for the trail run itself.
Washing: Any
damage due to sewing has to be rectified.(i.e.) he has to check what is the
defect and has to do alterations accordingly.The effect of screen printing and
embroidery has to be checked before wash and also after wash to see whether it
matches with requirements or not.
Finishing: When
the new styles starts in the finishing, technical manager must set standards
for following and make the workers aware
